Crooked Lake

Easy Access From I-69

Crooked Lake is a recreational oasis in the far northeastern corner of Indiana. Restaurants, shops, and the Cameron Memorial Community Hospital are nearby in Angola.

Only 70 miles away, South Bend has a more significant list of city establishments along with South Bend International Airport.

Over 800 Acres of Beautiful Waters

Being one of the larger lakes of Indiana, Crooked Lake covers a total of 802 acres. The lake of three different basins gets its name from its odd shape, resembling a crooked gourd.

Like most lakes in Indiana, Crooked Lake has a well-developed shoreline with the surrounding lands being mostly agricultural. Along with houses, campsites, marinas, and boat rental services are located around the shore.

Lake All Day Long, Fishing and Events

Speedboaters from across the state will come to Crooked Lake to skim across the vast stretch of water. Boaters on pontoon boats, motorboats, sailboats, kayaks, and other watercraft have just as much fun.

While on the waters, you can water ski, wakeboard, jet ski, tube, or fish. Skiers are welcome to ski all waters of the lake, but if they are up for a challenge, they can try the slalom ski course in the third basin of water. Steuben County Park manages the lake’s public beach along with campsites, boat slips, and a rec center.

Crooked Lake is an excellent fishing location for trophy-sized bass. Home to walleyes, crappies, catfish, and bluegills are sure to make a great catch. The lake hosts several fishing tournaments along with other community events.

The 4th of July is most memorable; the Crooked Lake Association places flares all about the lake to make the whole area glow red. The community celebrates with a grand boat parade and a firework display later that night.

Freedom 5 is a marathon (running or walking) sponsored by Crooked Lake to raise money for the preservation of the lake.
